Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has issued notification for creation of a Special Security Battalion for the safety and security of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
With the creation of special battalion, 1, 083 posts in different ranks will be created at Puri, the notification issued by the Home Department stated.
The Special Security Battalion would function under the command and control of Superintendent of Police, Puri.
In lieu of creation of the Special Security Battalion at Puri, 139 posts of A.P.R. Force created earlier under Singhdwar Police Station for safety and security of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri are abolished, the Department added.
The Newly created posts will be filled up by relevant recruitment rules and provisions of ORV Act. In principle approval has been given for outsourcing of various services of Group D staff for the special Security Battalion.
