Cuttack: At least 21 persons, including 10 Self-Help Group (SHG) women, were injured when the private bus they were travelling by hit a road divider and overturned near Nayapatna at Chowdar in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Thursday morning. The bus was transporting SHG women from Deogarh to Bhubaneswar.
All the injured have been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
According to reports, the bus transporting about 40 women to Adivasi Mela in Bhubaneswar met with an accident due to dense fog that reduced visibility drastically early this morning. As the bus neared the Madhusudan Bridge, the driver lost control of the wheel and hit a road divider causing the vehicle to overturn.
On being informed, Fire Services and police personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured.
Earlier, a section of the media reported that the vehicle was a Laxmi bus launched by the Odisha government to facilitate communication. However, the reports were untrue as the bus belonged to a private owner.
