Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project Expected To Be Completed By Dec ’27

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is expected to be completed by December 2027. This was revealed at a meeting of the State-level Project Monitoring Committee held in connection with the first phase of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project held at the Lok Seva Bhavan here today.

According to an official press release, the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena discussed funding arrangements, technical specifications, station plans at various locations, platform arrangements, etc.

Within the next 6 to 8 months, tendering will be done concerning land planning and structural arrangements, civil works, relocation of various utilities etc. according to the project.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for this project in January 2024. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027. However, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an agreement with the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation to implement the project as a turn-key consultant for the construction of the metro rail from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department G Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Vishal Kumar Dev, Special Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Manoj Kumar Mishra (Railway Corporation) and other members of the committee were present.

Before this meeting, the 2nd meeting of the Board of Directors of Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation was held. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary.

The status of the first phase of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project was presented In this meeting and various management aspects of the Board were discussed.
