Bhubaneswar: Singhadwar police have arrested a person for allegedly stealing Rs 35,000 from the ‘Hundi'(donation box) collection of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
According to the police, the money collected through the Sri Mandir Hundi was counted at the Donation Cell on Thursday evening.
Shree Jagannath Temple employees were engaged in the counting of money collected through the Hundi.
From among the employees engaged in the counting job a Class IV employee managed to steal Rs 35,000.
However, the Class IV employee’s act was caught during an examination of CCTV footage.
Following a complaint with the police, the concerned employee has been arrested. The employee has been put under suspension by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.
Police have registered a case in this connection and further investigation is underway.
