Youth Burnt Alive Atop Electric Pole In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: In a heart-rending incident, a 27-year-old youth was burnt alive while coming in contact with a high tension 11 KV wire at Singada under Raruan police station in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.

The youth identified as Narahari Mahanta of Singada village climbed atop 11 kv electric pole and touched the high-tension wire. He was burnt alive atop the pole. His body was separated from his head.

The shocking incident happened in the presence of local residents.

The reason why he climbed atop the electric pole remains unclear.

It is suspected he touched the live wire to commit suicide.

His body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police are trying to ascertain the reason.
