Bhubaneswar: The death toll from a gas explosion which took place at Belapada area of Bolangir district last week has risen to four after one more victim succumbed to his burns on Friday.
At least six persons of a family including five women and a youth were critically injured and sustained severe burns after a gas cylinder exploded inside their house in the Belapada area of Bolangir district.
All six people were watching television inside the house when the gas cylinder in the kitchen caught fire and exploded.
The injured were rescued by local residents and rushed to Kantabanji Community Health Centre in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to a private hospital in Rourkela.
One of them died on February 12 while two others succumbed to their injuries on February 15. Today, one more related death was reported. All of them succumbed to their burns while undergoing treatment.
