Bhubaneswar: The State residents today experienced a summer-like weather as the mercury soared to above 35 degrees C in half of the State today.
The temperature went up in as many as 15 places in the State with State Capital Bhubaneswar setting the trend ahead of Summer. The Capital city emerged as the hottest place in the State today with the mercury touching 37 degrees C.
The day started with a cold and foggy morning which later built up a hot day by noon.
The Met Department confirmed that 15 weather stations across the State recorded above 35 degrees C. Several places notches above season’s normal today.

Boudh remained second in the table with 36 degree followed by Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda and Paralakhemundi, which recorded 35.6 Degree C each.

Other places which witnessed 35 Degrees C or above are —Titilagarh (35.5), Nayagarh (35.5), Jagatsinghpur (35.5), Bolangir (35.3), Angul (35.1), Bhadrak (35), Malkangiri (35), Talcher (35), Chandbali (35) and Balasore (35).
Cuttack, however, settled at 34.7 degrees C.
Places like Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Titilagarh, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Hirakud recorded above normal night temperatures.
The Met department attributed the rise in night temperature to warm humid air entering the State under the influence of high pressure.
