Bhubaneswar: In a novel gesture, the parents of an eight-year-old boy have decided to donate his organs after the doctors declared him brain dead at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Subhajit Sahu reportedly suffered a seizure attack while appearing for an examination at his school on Wednesday. The school authorities rushed him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and then shifted to an ICU of another private hospital. He was under observation for 72 hours and there was a slight improvement in his condition after 24 hours. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in his condition thereafter and his brain stopped functioning.

On Sunday, Subhajit’s parents told the media that they wanted to create awareness of organ donation by donating their son’s heart, kidneys, eyes, pancreas, and liver. “Our boy will not return but his organs can save many lives,” they said.
