Bhubaneswar: Two people sustained grievous injuries while trying to save their goats after a fire broke out in the loafing shed of the animals in Sitapur village under Basta police limits of Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday night. The injured have been admitted to Basta Hospital.
Ten goats were burnt alive and several others were injured in the fire mishap.
According to reports, Harihar Samal of Sitapur village smoked in the goat loafing shed on Saturday night and later slept nearby. Late in the night, a fire broke out in the shed and it soon engulfed the shed. When the local villagers saw the fire, they rushed to douse it. They informed the Fire Services and the firefighters brought the blaze under control.
The shed had 40 goats and more than 10 of them were burnt alive. Another villager and Harihar’s wife were also seriously injured in the fire.
