Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience hotter days soon as the mercury will soar from March 11, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its midday bulletin on Thursday.
According to the weather office, the daytime temperature is all set to rise by around 3°C to 4°C above normal from March 11 across the state. There will be no respite from the prevailing heat in any part of Odisha, it added. Currently, the state is witnessing a rise in the nighttime temperature too.
Meanwhile, a high pressure system is active over the Bay of Bengal resulting in retention of moisture in the atmosphere. Cloudy weather along with light rainfall is being experienced in some parts of Odisha under its influence. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur in some places till March 10.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at a few places in north interior Odisha, and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha. Shallow fog occurred at one or two places in Bhadrak in north coastal Odisha. The maximum temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places in north interior Odisha and no large changes were observed elsewhere. They were above normal at a few places in interior Odisha, and normal elsewhere in Odisha.
