Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched the ‘Mo Bus’ service in the cities of Sambalpur and Berhampur.
According to an official press release, arrangements were today made for the plying of 15 buses each in both cities. In Sambalpur city Mo Bus service will ply on the Sambalpur-Burla-Hirakud route. Similarly, in Berhampur city Mo Bus service will ply on MKCG Medical College-Engineering School-Railway-Station-Berhampur University route.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that better communication is the basis of a prosperous future. “The 5T initiative has transformed the transport system across the state from villages to cities. Starting from Mo Bus, LAccMI Yojana and Metro Rail Yojana are strengthening our efforts towards building a new Odisha.”
The Chief Minister said, “Mo Bus service has started in your city. This allows you to travel within and around the city conveniently and at low cost.” He also said that the ‘Mo Bus Card Tap and Pay’ facility has been provided for Mo Bus in both cash and digital mode, and the safety of passengers has been given utmost importance. He said that in Sambalpur Mo Bus employs 90 percent women conductors and added Mo Bus service aims to provide safe travel at low cost. He announced that in the future Mo Bus service will be available in all the cities of the state.
5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian coordinated the program.
MLA Rohit Pujari joined the program from Sambalpur and said that Mo Bus services like LAccMI Bus in rural areas will make urban transit convenient. He said that the trend of development continues in Sambalpur district and the people of the district are very happy. He thanked the Chief Minister and 5T Chairman on behalf of the people of the district.
Similarly, MLA Bikram Kumar Panda joined the program from Berhampur and said that the Chief Minister has provided all facilities from drinking water to buses for transportation to the people of Brahampur city. He said the Chief Minister is concerned about the welfare of people from all sections of the society. Due to this visionary thinking, the Chief Minister has created a special identity for Odisha in the world today.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Housing and Urban Development G Mathi Vathanan were present in the program.
Managing Director of CRUT Arun Bothra who was present at Sambalpur gave the welcome address.
