Nayagarh: A man allegedly killed his mother and set her body afire over a family dispute at Nahakapada village under Dasapalla police limits in Nayagarh district on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mana Behera.
Police meanwhile arrested the accused Balia Behera on allegations of killing his mother and interrogated him.
According to sources, Mana was beaten to death by Balia over a trivial issue. Later, Balia to hide his crime reportedly set his mother’s body on fire.
During interrogation, Balia declined to have committed the crime. He, on the other hand, attributed his mother’s death to cardiac arrest.
No police case has been filed so far.
