Bhubaneswar: Unidentified burglars robbed four temples in the Remuna area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday night and decamped with idols, ornaments, and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
According to reports, the robbers struck at Mangala and Hanuman temples at Patripal, Shiva temple at Kantabania, and Shiva temple at Unida in the Remuna area of Balasore.
They decamped with a few brass idols from the newly consecrated Shiva temple at Kantabania and gold and silver ornaments of deities and utensils from the remaining three temples.
The burglary came to light only after the priests opened the shrines to perform the daily rituals on Sunday morning.
On being informed about the thefts, police inspected the four temples and initiated probes in this regard.
