Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed in lightning strikes in two separate incidents in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts on Monday morning.

In the first incident, a woman named Budhuni, a native of Manik Sahi village of Jarak panchayat under Mahulidiha police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, was struck by lightning when she was going to fetch clothes she had put outside her home to dry in the sun. Suddenly, there were strong winds and it started raining. Trying to hurry, Budhuni fell to the ground and was killed in a lightning strike.

In the second incident, a youth, identified as Ranjan Pramanik of Tukurihajira village in Balasore district, died in a lightning strike.
