Bhubaneswar: Berhampur police have seized 3336.24 litres (11,640 bottles/cans ) of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) having a market value of approximately Rs 25 lakh.
According to an official press release, Interstate Border check gates have been activated along the Srikakulam district with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) coming into force. Vehicle checking is conducted at the border check posts 24 x 7. On Wednesday during vehicle checking, the Marine Police team found one pickup van coming suspiciously. While checking it was detected that 1053 litres of foreign liquor was being transported illegally by one accused towards Andhra Pradesh.
Further based upon the interrogation of the accused detained at Marine police station more seizures were made from a locked house at Rameya Patna village under Golanthara police station by a team led by SDPO Sadar Subhrahshu Parida.
The seized liquor included whisky, brandy, vodka & beer of different brands.
