Bhubaneswar: A day after being arrested by vigilance in a bribery case, Saheed Nagar Police station SI Priyabrata Pradhan was suspended today from the service.
Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda placed him under suspension.
Pradhan was arrested by Vigilance on Saturday while taking a bribe of Rs 2000 from a complainant to return his seized Driving Licence (DL).
Pradhan was caught accepting bribe money of Rs 2,000 as the second instalment of overall demand of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.
The complainant had paid Rs 3,000 to accused SI Pradhan on Thursday but he demanded Rs 2,000 more to release the DL.
