Bhubaneswar: Hours after giving resignation from primary membership of Biju Janata Dal, the former MLA from Bhubaneswar (North) Priyadarshi Mishra joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.
Mishra joined the saffron party in the presence of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, BJP state president Manmohan Samal and BJP co-in charge for Odisha Vijaypal Singh Tomar at the party’s headquarter office in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier on the day, Mishra sent his resignation letter to BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik.
“Due to continuous neglect in the party, I am resigning from the party’s membership”, read his resignation letter.
Talking to the mediapersons, BJD’s general secretary said, “I have been associated with BJD since my student career. I had worked with late Biju Babu. I was declined a ticket in 2019 but the party chief had assured me to give a ticket in 2024. However, the ruling party betrayed me this time too. Party has been neglecting me for a long period. I have not been invited to any party’s function. Continuous neglect by the party made me to take this bold decision.”
Priyadarshi, the son-in-law of former Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani, was elected to the State Legislative Assembly in 2014 elections.
