Bhubaneswar: An elderly couple was killed in a road accident on the Puruna Cuttack – Sambalpur road in Odisha’s Athagarh on Wednesday morning.
Although the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, it is said that they hailed from the Bhapur area in the Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the couple was on their way to Cuttack from Dhenkanal on a motorcycle to see their grandson. As they reached the Puruna Cuttack-Sambalpur road, a speeding car hit the couple and fled the spot. Both the husband and wife were killed on the spot.
On being informed, the Athagarh police reached the accident spot and launched an investigation into the fatal accident.
