Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warnings for heat wave conditions in as many as 11 districts of Odisha for the next three days.
According to the IMD prediction, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput and Dhenkanal districts will experience intense heat wave conditions during day time and severe humidity during night.
Mercury level will rise further by three to five degrees Celsius than the normal temperature for which the coastal and interior Odisha will experience intense humid conditions for the next three days. There will be no change in the weather conditions till April 6, informed the Regional MeT centre.
“Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, consequently maximum temperature (day temperature) likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Odisha till 6,” read the statement issued by IMD.
Meanwhile, IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going out during the daytime between 11 am and 3 pm.
