Mercury Breaches 30°C At 11 Places In Odisha At 8.30 AM, Balasore Hottest At 34.4°C

Bhubaneswar: With no respite from the heatwave prevailing across Odisha, the mercury breached 32°C in at least four places in the state as early as 8.30 am on Tuesday.

According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in the capital city, Balasore was the hottest place in Odisha this morning recording 34.4°C. In comparison, Bhubaneswar and Chandabali came close second recording 32.6°C at 8.30 am. The maximum temperature at Puri was 32.4°C.

Other places that recorded maximum temperatures of above 30°C on Tuesday morning include Keonjhar (31.2°C), Jharsuguda (31.4°C), Gopalpur (31.4°C), Hirakud (31°C), Paradip (30.8°C), Sambalpur (30.4°C), and Rourkela (30°C).

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heatwave in 20 districts of Odisha, saying that the weather conditions will remain unchanged and unbearable during the next four days. It has advised people, especially the aged, children and pregnant women, not to venture outside their homes between 11 am and 3 pm unless it is indispensable.

The IMD has forecast that the maximum temperature will increase by 4°C to 5°C during the next four days. It has issued heatwave alerts for Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Malkangari, Angul, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Boudh, and Khurda on April 17.
