Bargarh: Taking advantage of the absence of customers due to the prevailing heat, two unidentified armed miscreants entered the Bargarh District Burpali Regional Utkal Gramin Bank at around 3.00 pm on Thursday and looted Rs 9.26 lakh cash at gunpoint.
According to reports, finding that the shutter of the bank was half-down, two armed miscreants entered the bank and directed the two accountants to hand over the cash in the locker. At that time, there was no customer, staff or security in the bank. While two treasures – Mamata Bhoi and Chandan Sahu – were eating their lunch, the manager stepped outside for his lunch. Taking advantage of the situation, the miscreants looted the cash and fled the scene without any opposition.
When the bank manager came to know about the incident, he informed the police about the looting incident. The police reached the bank and started an investigation into the crime. However, the police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the miscreants till the time of writing this report.
