Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested Balamukunda Pradhan, headmaster of Kushanpuri High School in Odisha’s Bargarh district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000 from a functionary of the local self-help group (SHG) to process a file for the release of payment in their favour towards cleaning and night watch duty at the school.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Pradhan and seized.
Following the trap set by Odisha Vigilance sleuths to arrest Pradhan, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations of Pradhan from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Sambalpur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against Pradhan and a detailed report is awaited.
