Bhubaneswar: The heatwave conditions prevailing in Odisha are becoming unbearable with the mercury breaching 40°C in at least three places in the state by 11.30 am on Thursday. At the same time, the day temperature was above 32.4°C in at least 10 places this morning.
The situation has worsened due to high humidity following Wednesday’s Nor’wester and rain. According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, there is unlikely to be any change in the day temperatures till Saturday and some relief can be expected from Sunday.
Balasore was the hottest place in Odisha at 40.6°C, while Jharsuguda and Keonjhar recorded 40°C by 11.30 today.
The maximum temperatures recorded at 10 places by 11.30 am are:
- Balasore: 6°C
- Jharsuguda: 40°C
- Keonjhar: 40°C
- Sambalpur: 39.7°C
- Hirakud: 39°C
- Rourkela: 38.4°C
- Bhubaneswar: 38°C
- Puri: 33.6°C
- Paradip: 32.4°C
- Gopalpur: 32.4 °C
