Balasore: Two youths and two women were tied to a tree and thrashed black and blue in Laxmipatna village under Bhograi police limits of Odisha’s Balasore on Thursday for allegedly running a sex racket.

According to reports, a youth from neighbouring West Bengal was allegedly running a sex racket in a house on the outskirts of Laxmipatana village. Despite being warned by the villagers he did not stop running his illegal trade.

After the youths came to the village on Thursday, the villagers got together and surrounded the house. They demanded that the occupants open the door and come out. When the four – two women and two youths – did not open the door, the villagers broke open the rickety door.

The villagers dragged out the four, tied them to a tree and thrashed them brutally.

On being informed, Bhograi police arrived at the village and rescued the four from public assault.
