Bhubaneswar: The day temperatures (maximum temperatures) have dropped slightly in several districts of Odisha under the influence of kalbaisakhi on Monday. However, some places in western Odisha continue to boil due to severe heatwave conditions.
The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar forecasts that rain is likely to intensify across Odisha from Tuesday. It has issued orange and yellow alerts for the rainfall activity for the next three days.
The weather office has issued an orange warning for thunderstorms and lightning in five districts of Odisha today and a yellow warning in 14 districts. Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and heavy rainfall are very likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal today.
Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput districts today.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture out into the sea in the northern coastal areas of the state.
Meanwhile, Balangir boiled at 44.5 °C on Monday while seven places recorded 43°C or above on Monday.
