Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and State executive committee member Bijoy Mohapatra was expelled from the party for anti-party activities.
The party took disciplinary action against Mohapatra and two other leaders, Sarada Pradhan and Rakesh Mallik.
“State executive committee member Bijoy Moahapatra and Sarada Pradhan and SC Morcha state vice-president Rakesh Mallik were expelled from the party as per the order of State BJP president Manmohan Samal for indulging in anti-party activities and breaching party discipline,” a press release issued by the party stated.
Sarada Pradhan of Mahanga and Rakesh Mallik of Soro have filed nominations as Independent candidates after party denied ticket.
Bijoy Mohapatra’s son Arbinda Mohapatra is contesting the election from Patkura on BJD ticket.
On the expulsion order, Mohapatra said that he was not in party for last 5-6 years. “I was not in the party for last five to six years. Party president is all aware of it. The BJP is insulting itself by expelling me,” Mohapatra said.
