Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, sweltering heatwave conditions are all set to make a comeback in Odisha, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre.
Going by the information provided by the weather office, the state is likely to witness heatwave conditions as day temperature is likely to rise by 3 to 5 degree Celsius till May 21.
For May 20, the department has issued a yellow warning to six districts such as Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Kandhamal.
Similarly, the department has issued a yellow warning to 14 districts for May 21 and the districts include Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal.
Heatwaves will sear Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh from May 17-21 and in Delhi from May 18-21).
Given these forecasts, the IMD has issued an orange alert over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka.
Isolated heavy rains (64.5 mm-115.5 mm) will batter Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka between Friday to Tuesday (May 19-21), IMD predicted yesterday.
