Balasore: Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday came down heavily on BJD and BJP for working in tandem while canvassing for party candidates in Balasore.
Dubbing the BJD government as ‘non-performing’, Pilot alleged that ‘rampant corruption prevails in Odisha’.
He said that both BJD and BJP have “common interests” and are both sides of the same coin which were reflected in their past actions.
“The Congress party’s performance will be better than the earlier this time. The BJD, which has been in power for long time, failed to deliver in the State. It had promised to take steps against chit fund scam, but didn’t do anything. The BJP in the centre also failed to check the price rise. It is trying to make an opposition-free democracy,” Pilot said.
Addressing the ‘Sankalp Samavesh’ at Mission ground in Balasore in favour of party candidate and former Union minister Srikant Jena, Pilot said Modi government at the Centre of completely failing to check the prices of essential commodities, including fuel and cooking gas.
“People across the country have made up their minds to change the central government. Wind of change is blowing across the nation,” he asserted.
“The BJP is running an autocratic rule. They have frozen the bank accounts of the Congress. Still we are contesting with the support of the people,” he said.
He claimed that BJP is already in the back foot in four phases Lok Sabha elections in several states in the north, including Rajasthan, where it is in power.
