Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening to campaign for BJP Lok Sabha and MLA candidates in Odisha. He arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BIPA) here around 6.30 pm today and went straight to the BJP office in the city to attend an important election meeting with party colleagues.
The Prime Minister will spend the night at the Raj Bhawan here and proceed to Puri early on Monday morning. After paying his obeisance at the Puri Srimandir and taking the blessings of Mahaprabhu, Modi will hold a grand roadshow in the Holy City around 8.00 am.
The Prime Minister’s roadshow will commence near the Singhadwar of Srimandir and culminate near the Medical Chhak in Puri, Puri SP Pinak Mishra told the media today.
Security has been beefed up in the entire Holy City given the Prime Minister’s road show tomorrow. Altogether 63 platoons of police force have been deployed for the Prime Minister’s security. The security arrangements include the deployment of three SP rank officers, 8 additional SPs, 22 DSPs, 42 Inspectors, 109 Sub-Inspectors, 34 Havildars, 202 Constables, and 250 Home Guards.
The Jagannath Temple in Puri will be closed to the public an hour before the arrival of the Prime Minister. Traffic restrictions will continue till the Prime Minister remains in Puri.
Modi will leave for Angul to address a public rally there.
