Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a couple committed suicide by electrocution at Parbatipur village under Pursottampur panchayat under Simulia police limits in Balasore district on Sunday.
The deceased couple, identified as Manoj Mahakud (32) and Sasmita Mahakud(28), were found dead after the family broke open the couple’s bedroom door after being suspicious as no one responded from inside.
According to the sources, Manoj and Sasmita went to their bedroom after lunch. In the late afternoon, the sister and brother-in-law of Sasmita came to their residence to meet the couple.
Despite repeated knocking and calls when the couple didn’t respond, the family members forcibly entered the room by breaking the door and found them dead with electric wire wrapped around their necks.
The couple is suspected of committing suicide by electrocution.
Meanwhile, the reason behind their death is yet to be ascertained.
Simulia police have sent the bodies for postmortem and started the investigation.
