Kalahandi Gram Panchayat PEO In Vigilance Net For Accepting Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested Sanyasi Nayak, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Kaniguma gram panchayat under Th.Rampur block in Kalahandi district, at Bhawanipatna Town while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant for processing the Muster Roll and releasing payment for the labourers under the MGNREGA scheme. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Nayak and seized.

Following the trap to apprehend the accused red-handed, simultaneous searches are underway at three locations related to Nayak from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

A case has been registered in this connection at the Koraput Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation into the case is in progress and a detailed report is awaited.
