Bhubaneswar: In a hit-and-run case, an intoxicated SUV driver creates havoc by smashing through multiple barricades installed by Odisha police near Omfed Square, Bhubaneswar.
On Tuesday late at night, police officials stationed at Omfed Square were doing their routine duty of blocking and checking vehicles when a speeding Scorpio from Damana Square rammed through the barricades without paying heed to the officers on duty.
The SUV driver not only rushed through the checkpost but also tried to run over officers on duty, trying to stop the vehicle.
More than 20 police officers narrowly escaped from being rammed under the vehicle. The driver also dragged a barricade on the road stuck under the SUV.
DCP Traffic, ACP, and other officers stationed at the checkpost tried to chase and apprehend the vehicle. But the driver evaded the police by quickly driving into gullies.
The police officials are trying to trace the notorious SUV-borne driver through security cameras installed at multiple locations.
