Achyuta Samanta Announces Retirement From Politics, To Continue Social Service

Bhubaneswar: BJD leader and former Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta todau announced his retirement from active politics after his debacle in the parliamentary election.

He, however, will continue his social services even after bidding adieu to the politics. Samanta, who had successfully contested the Lok Sabha election From Kandhamal in 2019 on BJD ticket, met party supremo Naveen Patnaik on Saturday and expressed his desire to quit politics.

He also thanked the BJD president for giving him an opportunity to become an MP from Kandhamal.

Samanta had also contested from the same seat on BJD ticket this election, but lost to BJP’s Sukant Kumar Panigrahi.

The founder of KIIT and KISS, Samanta had been also elected to Rajya Sabha from the BJD.
