Bhubaneswar: At least 16 places across Odisha recorded day temperatures (maximum temperatures) of 40°C on Sunday. Nuapada was the hottest place in the state recording 43°C, while Boudh and Bolangir were the second and third hottest places at 41.7°C and 41.5°C respectively.
Other places that recorded temperatures above 40°C include Malkangiri (41.3°C), Titlagarh (41°C), Jharsuguda (40.7), Balasore (40.6°C), Bhawanipatna (40.6°C), Bargarh (40.5°C), Khurda (40.5°C), Sonepur (40.4°C), Nayagarh (40.3°C), and Angul (40.1°C). The day temperature at Talcher, Dhenkanal, and Jagatsinghpur was 40°C each.
Paradeep recorded the lowest maximum temperature (33.3°C) today.
The maximum temperatures in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were 39.6°C and 38.8°C respectively.
The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Sunday predicted that the hot and humid weather conditions will continue till June 13 before Southwest Monsoon covers most of the state. However, several places will experience scattered rain and thunderstorms.
