Malkangiri: Two siblings drowned while taking selfies at Gummajharan waterfall under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Pradip Sahu (34) and Sandip Sahu (30).
According to reports, Balkrushna Sahu of Jeypore town along with his family had come to Gummajharan waterfall for sightseeing.
Pradip and his younger brother Sandip were taking selfies near the waterfall. While taking a selfie Sandip’s feet slipped and he fell into the water, to save him from drowning Pradip jumped into the water. However, both of them drowned. Locals rushed them to Mathili Government Hospital after rescuing them. However, they were pronounced dead by the doctors at the hospital.
Police have seized the bodies for post-mortem and have launched an investigation into the matter.
