Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three school students drowned in Devi river at Balidia near Astaranga in Puri district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Rohan Behera, Om Behera and Kanha Behera. All of them, belonging to one family, are residents of Balidia village. Kanha was studying Class IX while Omm was in Class X. Rohan was a Class VIII student.

Three students went to the river Devi for bathing today. When they didn’t return to home after long hours, family members went to the river and searched for them.

Their dresses and shoes were found kept in a country boat, which raised their suspicion of drowning. After searching in the river with the help of the local residents, they found the three floating in the water body.

All of them were first admitted to Astarang Community Health Centre. Later, they were shifted to Charichak Health Center where doctors declared them dead.
