Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced that the eligible farmers who are deprived of the benefits under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme will be included in the scheme within 15 days.
Attending the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi ceremony at Bargarh today, Majhi said that as many as 31.62 lakh farmers in Odisha received Rs 632.48 crore today under the scheme. Each farmer got Rs 2000 through direct benefit transfer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the programme in Varanasi.
After reaching Bargarh, the Chief Minister went on a ‘road show’ in the presence of thousands of people and reached the venue. He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on the road by paying floral tributes. He shook hands with people all along the way. People welcomed the Chief Minister with great enthusiasm holding placards and raising slogans.
The Chief Minister thanked the people of Baragarh for their tremendous enthusiasm and support. He promised to visit the district again.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Majhi highly praised the Prime Minister. He said that Prime Minister Modi is a real friend of farmers. All the support to the farmers is going directly to the bank account through DBT. This scheme of the Prime Minister has paved the way for the development of the farmers.
Majhi said that farmer received Rs 2,000 under PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana. As many as 31.62 lakh farmers of Odisha got a total of Rs 632 crore. Majhi wished the farming community.
He further said that the scheme is meant for the farmer’s welfare. The scheme was implemented by the Modi government in February 2019 to accelerate the process of farmer development and poverty reduction.
The Chief Minister said that his cabinet has taken a decision to increase the minimum support price to Rs 3100 for paddy procurement.
“My government is the people’s government. All our promises to the common people will be fulfilled,” he added.
“Our state government is planning to implement the development plans and programs made by the central government for many more farmers in the coming days. I want no eligible farmer to get deprived of the benefits under this scheme. Within the next 15 days, all eligible farmers will be included in this scheme,” Majhi pointed out.
The CM said that 70% of the population of our State are farmers. “We will take common people’s views into account in the upcoming budget. A website for this will be launched soon. Budget will be prepared according to public views,” Majhi maintained.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, Bijepur MLA Sanath Gadtia, Bargarh MLA Ashwini Sarangi, Atabira MLA Nihar Mahanand and Bhatli MLA Irashish Acharya and other senior leaders were present in the event.
