Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accepting the proposal of the Union Cabinet to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of 14 Kharif crops including paddy and cotton.
Majhi welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister in view of the collective interest of the farmers of the country.
The farmers of Odisha will be especially benefited by the decision, the CM said.
Notably, the Union Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the minimum support price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops including paddy, ragi, bajra, jowar, maize and cotton.
The new MSP for paddy is Rs 2,300 per quintal, which is a Rs 117 increase over the previous price. The MSP for cotton has been increased by Rs 501.
