Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday visited his native place Raikala as part of his two-day tour to Keonjhar district.
After assuming the office of Chief Minister of Odisha, Majhi went to his village for the first time after he assumed the office of Chief Minister of Odisha. He received a rousing welcome from his family members and villagers.
He was surrounded by his relatives and acquaintances from neighbouring villages soon after his arrival at his ancestral village.
He along with his wife Priyanka Marandi bowed down before his mother’s feet in the presence of senior family members. Later, he relished his favourite dish ‘Pakhala’, the fermented water rice cooked by his mother.
His mother was seen feeding him pakhala. Majhi’s mother and other family members have prepared saga bhaja, jhudanga alu bhaja, alu bhaja, kunduri bhaja and baigana bharta for Majhi and other family members. The CM was seen sitting on the floor and relishing his favourite Odia dish pakhala.
Talking to the media, CM said, “Pakhala is my all-time favourite food. I used to have pakhala thrice a day during my school days. I used to have it before going to school, in the afternoon and the night too. Frankly speaking, I do not get satisfaction in 5-star hotels that I get after eating pakhala. My mother’s love adds zing to it. Whenever I come to my village, I love to have Pakhala.”
On Sunday, CM Majhi held a roadshow from the Ghatagaon High School ground to the Maa Tarini Temple and was cheered by a huge crowd.
He greeted the people with folded hands and listened to their grievances.
