Bhubaneswar: The new Odisha Health Minister, Dr Mukesh Mahaling today directed doctors and paramedics of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack to treat patients with a touch of humanity and good conduct.
In the first of his visits to the State’s Premier Health Institute after being sworn-in as the Health Minister, Mahaling said that the government’s motto is to ensure quality health care for all.
“Our motto is to protect doctors in duty and ensure quality health care for patients. I requested all the doctors and other staff to show sympathy and good conduct to the patients,” said the minister after interacting with some patients and holding a review with the authorities.
The minister had a courtesy meeting with Dean Dr Prasenjit Mohanty and Superintendent Dr Sudshanshu Shekhar Mishra of the health institute.
Dr Mohanty, principal of the medical college, first welcomed the new Health Minister with flower bouquet.
Later, Health Minister Dr Mahaling visited various wards of the hospital in a battery vehicle and discussed healthcare providers and patients.
First, he visited the surgery ward of the hospital and interacted with the patients about the treatment.
Briefing the media, the minister said that the state government is committed to providing quality healthcare. Doctors should treat the patients well. At the same time, the government will also look after the safety of doctors.
