Bhadrak: Three police officers including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) have been transferred after a video showing them thrashing a woman and dragging her into Chandbali police station while she was screaming has gone viral on social media.
Condemning the incident, Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) issued a transfer order to the police personnel involved in the incident.
As seen in the video, the woman was beaten up, and dragged by cops on the premises of Chandabali Police Station. Even as the woman tried hard to protect her, the policemen grabbed her by both her legs and hands and then threw her out of the police station premises.
According to the woman, her husband who was a driver by profession was picked up by police in connection with a case. On being informed, she along with her minor sister-in-law came to the police station. By the time, an accused was forwarded to court. He was given a pair of new shoes and its cover was thrown there.
The woman said that her infant was playing with the shoe cover and she threw it up. A police constable asked her to put it into the dustbin to which she refused.
Irked, the constable slapped her and beat her up with stick, the woman alleged. Later, two other male police personnel came, heckled her and dragged her into the police station in which her saree was torn up.
“Later, the IIC gave me a new saree and questioned me regarding the incident. The dress of my sister-in-law was also ripped in the incident,” she alleged.
