Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths apprehended a Junior Engineer (JE) from Bolgarh in Khurda district for allegedly accepting Rs 19,200 bribe from a complainant for facilitating the release of a bill.
The JE has been identified as Nrusingha Nath Pradhan, posted as Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant of Bolagarh Block in Khurda district.
According to sources, Pradhan was caught by the vigilance sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 19,200 from a complainant for facilitating the release of a bill towards the construction of a cultural centre in Khanguria GP under Bolagarh Block.
The vigilance officials seized the entire bribe money from the accused and launched simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Pradhan from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle. During a search at his government quarters, Rs 2,16, 900 cash was seized.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case in this connection.
