Sundargarh: With the number of dengue cases increasing in Sundergarh district, a total of 64 people have tested positive for the disease. Out of these, 57 are from Rourkela city alone, while 2 are from Birmitrapur and 5 are from other parts of the district.

According to sources, sector 14 of Rourkela has been declared a hotspot zone with many patients emerging from this area. The district administration has identified this sector as a high-risk zone. The administration, has, meanwhile, taken measures to sanitize the area and keep it under surveillance.

The sudden spike in dengue cases in Rourkela has raised concerns, with 14 sectors in the city being identified as hotspots. The health department has taken measures to contain the spread of the disease, including increasing testing and surveillance. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to prevent mosquito bites and report any symptoms to the authorities immediately.

According to sources, seven patients are currently undergoing treatment at the Rourkela Government Hospital, while others are being treated at private hospitals.

The district health department is keeping a close watch on the situation and has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of dengue.

Bhakta Mohan Swain, Additional District Public Health Officer, said, “Rourkela urban suburb has the maximum number of dengue patients. As many as 64 dengue-positive cases have been identified. As people from different parts of the state including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are regularly coming to Rourkela, Steel City witnessing a rise in dengue cases every year is natural. However, the situation is under control.”
