Cuttack: A fire broke out on the third floor of a private nursing home near Purighat Police Station in Cuttack on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the ICU, where around eight patients were undergoing treatment.
Fire personnel promptly arrived and successfully rescued all the patients. As a precaution, the rescued patients were transferred to other hospitals.
Reports further added that 12 newborns in the hospital have been safely evacuated.
Sudhansu Sarangi, DG of Fire Services has confirmed that the patients from the ICU have been relocated and that 12 babies in need of neonatal ICU care were being attended to with the coordination of the Health Department and the Chief Minister’s Office.
The fire has been fully extinguished, and efforts are underway to clear the smoke, Sarangi added.
