Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today held his second public grievance hearing in Bhubaneswar.
According to an official press release, a total of 1741 people registered their grievances. Deputy CM K V Singh Deo, Ministers Suresh Pujari, Nityananda Gond, Sampad Chandra Swain, Gokulananda Mallik, Rabi Narayan Naik, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra along with Chief Minister were present during the hearing which commenced from 10.00 AM and lasted till 4.30 PM.
Also, present were Addl Chief Secretary of General Administration Department Surendra Kumar, Addl Chief Secretary Revenue Department Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretaries and senior officers of various departments for expeditious redressal of grievances.
Before the commencement of the hearing of grievances, Chief Minister Majhi consulted with other Ministers and officials and suggested making the system fully efficient and transparent. He asked to keep the grievance redressal portal updated and prepare daily reports.
He directed that the grievance hearing process should be improved and made more efficient, especially at the district level. He said that people would not have to come to Bhubaneswar if the grievances of the people are properly heard by the local administration.
Similarly, the Chief Minister also directed to give justice to the people by taking immediate decisions on those grievances which can be resolved quickly.
Government employees coming to the Chief Minister’s grievance hearing is a violation of the code of conduct, therefore the Chief Minister advised them to apprise their grievances to their departmental authorities instead of coming to the CM’s Grievance Cell.
The Chief Minister further said that their government is giving priority to provide justice to the people. He added that he and members of his cabinet remain present here, listen to the grievances of the people discuss the matter and inform the concerned department immediately to take steps to resolve it.
This makes it possible to give immediate justice to the people. Ministers are present here to assist the Chief Minister. Even if the Ministers are receiving the grievances, it goes down through the Chief Minister’s channel.
Further, efforts are underway not to limit this process to Bhubaneswar but to conduct hearings at the RDC level. The Chief Minister said that this would facilitate the process of providing justice to the people.
