SCB House Surgeons-Nurses Conflict Resolved; Patient Care To Continue

Cuttack: A meeting chaired by the CMC (Cuttack Municipal Corporation) Commissioner successfully resolved the conflict between House Surgeons and Nursing staff at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack today.

The meeting, attended by representatives from the Nursing Association, House Surgeons Association, Junior Doctors Association, and Resident Doctors Association, as well as college authorities, has resulted in an amicable solution.

All parties have agreed to cooperate and ensure the smooth delivery of patient care. Normal patient care will continue uninterrupted, and all doctors and nurses will work together to provide quality care to patients, said Prof Dr Jayant Panda, Head of the Department of Medicine who was a part of the meeting.

A committee has been formed to inquire into the matter, added Panda.

The meeting was attended by SCB Dean, Superintendent, Registrar Administration, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Panda, Dr. Manoj Pattnaik, Dr. Sarada Swain, Nursing Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and representatives from the Nursing Association, House Surgeons Association, Junior Doctors Association, Resident Doctors Association.

Following the meeting, the House Surgeons Association announced to withdraw the cease-work strike from tomorrow. Similarly, the Nursing Association will also join the duty and withdraw its decision to work with black badges.

The conflict between House surgeons and nursing staff arose following a verbal altercation between a nurse and a house surgeon.

The House surgeons went on a cease work strike alleging misbehaviour by a nurse. The association also demanded the immediate transfer of the nurse.

On the other hand, the Nursing Association filed a complaint with the Manglabag police alleging misconduct by the house surgeons. They had also decided to wear black badges from tomorrow.
