Sundargarh: Over 50 inmates of the women’s hostel of Sundargarh Government College have been affected with diarrhoea. As many as 20 of them have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
Several inmates of the hostel complained of stomach aches and diarrhoea after having dinner on Thursday night.
“After having dinner I felt a wrenching pain in the stomach. Then I had vomiting and diarrhoea. Initially, 16 of us were hospitalised, then another four and some more were hospitalised today,” said Madhusmita Sahoo, a PG Ist year student.
The affected inmates were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in the night by ambulance and are undergoing treatment.
“They were suffering from diarrhoea. I called the ambulance and shifted them to the hospital. We too took food in the hostel but don’t know how only they got affected I don’t know. They could have taken outside food,” said Upasi Pradhan, hostel warden.
