Bhubaneswar: A vigilance court in Berhampur on Monday convicted a retired headmaster of Berhampur and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Aruna Chand Dash, the retired headmaster of City High School was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a DA case under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988/109 IPC on charges of possessing disproportionate assets (DA), sources said.
Dash accumulated wealth which has proved to be disproportionate to his known sources of income, sources said.
The vigilance court has imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on Dash. He would undergo additional imprisonment for one month in default of payment under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Aruna Chand Dash, Ex-Head Master (Retired), City High School, Berhampur following his conviction, read the release issued by the Vigilance Department.
Former inspector, Vigilance of Berhampur Division Prafulla Kumar Patel, had investigated the case and Sri Surendra Panda, Special Public Prosecutor, Vigilance, Berhampur conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
