Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly witnessed unprecedented pandemonium on Tuesday as Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo broke the microphone on the Speaker’s podium, protesting the alleged assault on an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) by Governor’s son Lalit Kumar.
The incident occurred when BJD members stormed the well of the House, demanding Kumar’s arrest for the alleged assault on ASO Baikuntha Pradhan during Rath Yatra in Puri. Despite repeated adjournments, the House was unable to conduct any business due to the ruckus.
BJD chief whip Pramila Mallik accused the BJP government of shielding the culprit and demanded a statement from the Chief Minister on the issue. The Assembly was adjourned for the day amid the turmoil.
