Balasore: A jewellery store owner was robbed of lakhs of rupees worth of ornaments near Jamujhadi Bazar under Simulia police limits in Balasore district, on Tuesday night.
As per sources, the jeweller identified as Karunakar Sahu was on his way home after downing the shutter of his jewellery store when four miscreants approached Sahu.
While one of the miscreants asked Sahu for directions to Simulia police station, another broke the lock of Sahu’s bike dickey and snatched a bag containing 6 kg of silver and 33 grams of gold ornaments. The miscreants then fled the scene.
Based on a complaint filed by Sahu, Simulia police have begun an investigation into the matter
Sahu said, “When I was about to leave for home, a miscreant asked me the address of Simulia police station. When I was busy telling him the direction, another miscreant broke open my dickey and decamped with the bag containing gold and silver jewellery. Two other miscreants were waiting for these two. They fled the scene together.”
